UFC 257 Results: Dustin Poirier knocks out Conor McGregor.Michael Chandler stuns Dan Hooker – MMA Sports

The UFC’s three-event, eight-day stint on its return to Abu Dhabi culminated at UFC 257 on Saturday night. This is characterized by former dual division champion Conor McGregor facing a rematch with UFC lightweight champion Dustin Poirier. Their 2014 match.

McGregor won the first meeting in 1 minute 46 seconds with a technical knockout. He didn’t improve the mark in the rematch. In fact, it was Poirier who gave McGregor a brutal welcome to the Octagon after a year of bystanders.

The battle began when McGregor quickly showed the speed of his hand and stabbed him in combination with Poirier. Poirier replied with McGregor on the canvas, but couldn’t keep him there.

After they stood up, Poirier did a good job of keeping McGregor on the fence for a while, but again he couldn’t keep him there.

McGregor fought over the fence, exchanging shoulder punches with Poirier, and generally defeating hard shots.

When they came off the fence, McGregor’s boxing was a star, landing a stinging combination of Poirier’s head back. Poirier seemed to be breathing hard, but McGregor couldn’t get rid of him.

At the start of Round 2, Poirier landed a calf kick, some of which landed by hand in Round 1. However, in the second round, it became clear that the kick was beginning to take stability from McGregor’s lead leg.

McGregor remained confident and continued to throw a punch that snapped Poirie’s head, but he was not denied. McGregor continued to shoot punches, but Poirier may have removed some of the punches by interfering with McGregor’s lead leg.

It finally led him to the opening. He made the most of it. Poyer landed another low kick, followed by a combination of punches that hurt McGregor. He continued a series of punch combinations that sent McGregor to the canvas.

Poirier fired a few more punches, and referee Herb Dean had no choice but to stop the fight.

More than six years after the first meeting, Poirier, who won the interim title during that period, achieved the greatest victory and revenge in his career.

“It felt like a title battle. If Habib didn’t come back, I and Connor are the two best guys. I think this was the title battle. I’m the champion.”

Being humble in defeat, McGregor had to admit that the ring rust was genuine.

“It’s difficult to overcome inactivity over a long period of time. The leg kick was good. The low calf kick was very good. The leg was dead. It’s inactive and that’s it. Dustin is tough. McGregor admitted, but said he would return to the Octagon again this year.

“Of course (fighting again in 2021), we need activity. You won’t run away because you’re not in this business. I’ll lick it. It’s hard to swallow.”

Michael Chandler knocks out Dan Hooker and announces his arrival

Former Bellator champion Michael Chandler faced astounding expectations when he first entered the Octagon with the UFC 257 on the other side of Dan Hooker, but he was active in every way.

It took him a few minutes to get started, but when he did, Chandler landed some hard punches. He ate a calf kick from Hooker, but returned the fire with his right hand to the body that set up a crushing left hook that sent Hooker to the floor. He chased Hooker and unloaded with the blazing force of a hard punch that forced the referee to stop fighting.

Chandler was so excited about his electrical victory at his UFC debut that he backflip high in the sky from the top of the Octagon fence.

He was just as good at Mike as Chandler was in the cage.

“Many ups and downs led me to this,” he told John Anik.

“I tell you all this. This is the best moment in my professional life. Connor McGregor, there is a new king in the Wright class. Dustin Poyer, your time is coming. Khabib, If you want 30 and think it’s worthy to go back to UFC Octagon and grace us, you know you need to beat someone, so beat me … hopefully! “

However, Calderwood found a distance in the second round, stayed outside and fired some brutal punches. Swelling appeared immediately on the face of the eyes. Calderwood landed a beautiful knee and kicked in the middle of the round, severely damaging Ai.

Ai continued to fight back, but at a much slower pace than Calderwood, who was picking up Ai from the outside. Ai eventually recorded a takedown in the second half of the second frame, but couldn’t do anything with it before the clock ran out.

The third round began with Ai quickly pushing Calderwood against the fence and keeping her there for the first half of the final frame. As soon as they left, Calderwood landed a hard kick and pulled Ai away from the outside again.

Ai tried to shoot, but Calderwood spread a few knees around Ai’s body and head, clinched and landed. She kept it throughout the last moment of the round, landing more knees and opening a cut around the eye’s left eyebrow.

It was a great performance by Calderwood, who lost the only battle in 2020 to Jennifer Maia. She won the unanimous decision and soon returned her name to the flyweight championship conversation.
