UPS, FedEx, USPS set holiday shipping dates

It’s not Halloween yet, but shipping companies UPS Inc., FedEx Corp., and the United States Postal Service have announced recommended deadlines for shipping packages in time for the holidays.

Due to pandemic supply chain issues, industry experts warn consumers to shop early, but shipping deadlines are relatively consistent with the past few years.

  • For delivery within the 48 states of the continental United States by December 25 United States Postal Service We advise those who use ground services to send their goods by December 15th. First-class and priority email users will be one day earlier than last year, until December 17th and 18th, respectively. The recommended shipping date for Priority Mail Express, December 23, has not changed.
  • ups We recommend shipping your shipment within the United States on the same date as last year, by December 21st if you are using UPS 3 Day Select, or by December 23rd if you are shipping via UPS Next Day Air. Many retailers warned of delivery delays during the holiday season last year as consumers shopped more holidays online than usual. Post offices in particular struggled to deliver their packages on time due to the amount of historic holidays and the weight of staff shortages from COVID-19.

All three package carriers are staffed to surge again this year. UPS and the United States Postal Service have stated that they plan to hire 100,000 and 40,000 seasonal employees, respectively. FedEx aims to hire 90,000 people from 70,000 last year.

Many of those jobs remain open.
