USDA dealing with fertilizer prices

USDA Deputy Secretary Robert Bonnie says the Department of Agriculture is working to help farmers lower fertilizer prices.

“We have secured $ 500 million to look at ways to increase domestic fertilizer production in the country and how to be creative in helping US agriculture handle input costs.”

He says conservation practices can help. “We will look at ways to integrate conservation and increase productivity through soil health and other measures,” Bonnie said. “After all, we are looking for ways that conservation can support agricultural productivity.”

Bonnie spoke at the recent Midwest Agricultural Summit.
