LAFC may not have won the final prize in the recently signed Conca Cuff Champions League, but some of the players on the team are equally recognized for their performances.
Conca Cuff announced earlier this week Carlos Vela, Diego Rossi, Jesus Murillo and Diego Palacios were one of the 11 players nominated for the 2020 CCL Team of Tournaments. The LAFC quartet has joined six players from title-winner Tigres and Edwin Rodriguez of the Dark Horse Olympia in Honduras.
Vera was the second best scorer in the 2020 Games, scoring five of the nine goals in Black and Gold. While fellow attacker Rossi had two other goals, Murillo and Palacios were an important part of the LAFC defense, who abandoned only six goals in five games.
Black and Gold reached the CCL final last month, but were unable to win the title for the first time as an MLS team after Tigres won 2-1. Prior to its disappointing defeat, LAFC made history by becoming the first MLS franchise to eliminate three Liga MX clubs in one edition of the tournament.
LAFC lost to Tigres in the championship game after knocking out Club Leon, Cruz Azul and Club America.
The full 2020 CCL team for the tournament is:
Goalkeeper: Nahuel Guzman, Tigres

D: Diego Palacios, LAFC
M: Edwin Rodriguez, Olympia
M: Guido Pizarro, Tigres
