Weekend Hot Topic, Part 2: Best Things About the Next Generation

Astro’s Playroom – Early Highlights of the New Generation (Photo: Sony)

GameCentral readers will discuss the games and features that have been most impressed with the PS5. Xbox Series X.

The subject of this week’s hot topic asked what I think will be the highlights of the next generation of launches and what is the most encouraging future for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S.

Most of the letters were about PlayStation 5, and the Dual Sense and launch game graphics were especially praised. So far, it’s nice to see that the majority are generally positive about most things.

Frequently used money
Astro’s playroom doesn’t lie to say it’s as fun as spending time playing video games … well, it’s certainly the last decade. It’s only three hours long and almost impossible to lose, but it’s a great way to showcase the graphics of the console, the features of the controller, and celebrate decades of PlayStation history.

Nintendo’s copy / paste enemies are a bit disappointing, but otherwise I think it’s almost perfect software. The intro just demonstrating the functionality of the controller is great. Even if I showed it to multiple people and wasn’t interested in the game at all, everyone was impressed.

I also got Spider-Man: Miles Morales. This is great, but a more subtle upgrade. I agree that ray tracing is impressive, but I really like the last bit you’re crushed through the window, and it’s all very spectacular, slowing down and other technical issues There is no smell of. It’s a very good launch and I feel my money has been spent well.

No impression
As an Xbox fan, it’s hard to say that the Xbox Series X has struggled to impress most of the people I know. I’m sure this will change over time, but so far there’s nothing you can do to show your friends other than showing your friends that XCOM 2 loads fast and Gears 5’s graphics are great. There is none. I’m not very impressed so far.

As a fan, I think Microsoft dropped the ball. Coronavirus alone is the only way to lag behind. As the GC said, Phil Spencer didn’t get the budget needed to make these changes until a few years ago, so the Xbox Series X is actually launching much earlier than it should be.

I’m still sticking to it. I always love having the most powerful consoles and backwards compatibility is a very important issue.

New master
It must be DualSense. Everyone is talking about it and it’s a major upgrade to the DualShock and it’s full of really great new ideas. Tactile feedback and adaptive triggers are really cool and new ideas, and we already know that seeing how they are used with each new game can be a big attraction in multi-format games. The Xbox graphics are slightly shining.

Sony has learned a lot from Nintendo over the years, and its focus on high-quality first parties and innovative hardware has paid off in the last few years. Create very different games and hardware using the same principles without copying them.

By comparison, I don’t think Microsoft has learned anything. They’re in this business about as much as Sony, but they’re still hitting one mistake to another, and frankly I’ve lost all confidence in them. When people talk about buying Sony or Nintendo consoles, they’re not talking about buggy disasters like Fallout 76, they define an industry like no other with other consoles. Means classic.

Like many other things, Microsoft doesn’t seem to understand it, and I’m not sure if they do.

When you get it
I have to say that the PlayStation 5 has blown my mind, not only the speed of the power supply itself and SSD, but also the super-fast way to set up and sign in with the app. The DualSense controller is really the next real thing. gen function. I love it, the feel of it. It’s a bit heavier, so it doesn’t feel like a lump of plastic, but the tactile feedback is very real. Anyone who comes up with it at Sony needs a salary increase and a 50-week vacation a year.

If you don’t have a PlayStation 5, try Astro’s Playroom, which shows you all the features of DualSense. I’ve seen the Xbox Series X, but to me it’s just an Xbox, nothing new here. As the GC said, you wouldn’t know it was a new console for mo’, and power at this point is a waste of power. But yes, that DualSense is amazing.

Not now, but soon
I’ve never played a PlayStation 5, but I’ve witnessed it in demos and real reactions from players. Also through articles from GameCentral viewers and articles from other magazines. What impressed me most was the menu screen and controller. They absolutely look and sound like a very good development from a previous version.

The options and menu screens look great, are very fluid, and are very accessible for quick access to the various operations needed to navigate console features. The background screen matches the game you are currently playing, so it looks graphically exciting. This is a great way to encourage exploration of the menu to see what else you can do.

Astro’s Playroom looks great and the player experience sounds like such a breakthrough for console demonstrations. Getting used to the game mechanics of a controller and the various functions that a controller can perform can seem like a dream.

The various effects of the controller’s bark and how it affects the situation and the environment are far superior to the soft and hard feedback from previous controllers. This gives you an immersive experience that goes beyond what you’ve ever experienced as a gamer since the early days of the Nintendo 64.

So it may seem like a gimmick at first, but now I’m excited about the force feedback that enhances the game. And, coupled with the menu screen, this is the console of the current generation, so it’s very exciting. I’ve never thought of games like Remake of Demon’s Souls, Cyberpunk 2077, or Resident Evil Village.

I’m definitely not going to get a PlayStation 5 yet, so I’m sure it’s calming my excitement, but I’ll do so in the not too distant future.

Used impression
I’ve never seen Jack himself because I couldn’t pre-order the PlayStation 5, but I was impressed with the video enough to keep me enthusiastic. Demon’s Souls looks really great for a launch game and I think a lot of people are sleeping in Ratchet & Crank: Lift apartments.

I know the game is a bit unattractive and can be over-welcome, but the graphics in the new game look seriously great and for some time I expect it to be the best of the next generation. I will.

Next Generation Q & A
What impressed you most with something in the next generation console?

The console itself isn’t that many, but the reaction when an angry gamer tried to get one left an impression on me, but it wasn’t good, so I was impressed in a negative way. I received it.

Yes, it’s very frustrating that the PlayStation 5 / Xbox Series X / S is out of stock due to limited inventory, but gamers’ reaction on Disqus and other comments on the game site on the web. From the section, you think d Scalper and the reseller have committed war crimes that require fogging and hanging.

What is the most encouraging future for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X / S? What is the reason?

If they have such high demand at this early stage, it promises to be one of the hells of a generation. For me, my expectations are very low and after years of playing 1080p30 games, I’m happy that the stable 1080p60 will be the baseline for this generation. It’s exciting. Anyone who says that 4K120 will be possible in all the games I say will not, if you look at the console specs.

The fact that PlayStation 5 can play PlayStation 4 games almost silently, often with improved performance, is insanely good. Whether you’re using a base PlayStation 4, PS4 Slim, or PS4 Pro, you’ll hear noise when playing almost every game. Personally, if your sound system competes with PlayStation 4 fans at full speed, it’s a bit less immersive. I hardly notice ray tracing in the game, but thank you for noticing the low noise of the fans. Fan noise has been a problem since the PlayStation 2 / original Xbox day 20 years ago.

Do you think the new console makes a better impression at this stage of life than the previous format, or do you think it’s disappointing so far?

Definitely disappointed. Those topics are very strong … from the few people who were able to play them. But the silver backing of this is that it is building expectations well towards the end of the first quarter of 2021. At that point, I think the stock issue has been largely resolved by both Sony and Microsoft.

What are your hopes for the near future (next 6 months or so) and in the long run?

Expectations for the immediate future will increase as inventory issues are resolved and inventory issues begin to occur within a week or two of ordering. My main use is playing Cyberpunk 2077 with PlayStation 5 level graphics as a free upgrade from the PlayStation 4 version (fortunately I need to get it before Christmas), better performance and better controller – DualSense is certainly making waves with players and critics.

Last but not least, no matter how good the title is, developers will not only learn the strengths and weaknesses, and how to play, but it will take an average of 2-4 years to see the best graphics the system can offer. It means that it will take. You will receive improved development kits from Sony and Microsoft as well as them. This allows you to compile your code better and get any ounce of performance from your retail store.

Thank you for reading, if you are still.
