Extreme E is an all-electric SUV off-road racing championship that hosts rounds in areas most affected by climate change to promote environmental restoration and protection.
Originally invented in 2018 by Formula E co-founder Alejandro Agag and two-time champion car champion Gil de Ferran. In addition, it is supported by the FIA, the governing body of motorsports.
While racing is central, it has the secondary purpose of Extreme E, built on relatively simple assumptions.
Motorsport attracts a large audience and is expected to attract more environmental attention than traditional documentaries by racing with zero-emission vehicles near retreating glaciers and damaged rainforests. I will.
However, this probably excludes those narrated by David Attenborough.
The championship requires each team to run female and male drivers in order to lead gender equality in the hottest motorsports.
How does Extreme E work?
Nine teams will sign up for the inauguration season and all entries will run one of the standardized Odyssey 21E-SUVs. Unlike Formula E, which requires the driver to lift and coast to save energy, the car races flat out at a sprint event known as the “X-Prix.”
Five rounds are planned for this first year, and these formats are most similar to those used in World Rallycross. Over a two-day period, the team will compete in a qualifying heat brace to advance to the semi-finals and finals. The position in orbit, not the time, declares the winner. Each heat consists of two laps, thanks to the pit stops during the race. One lap will be driven by the female driver of the team and the other lap will be driven by the male.
Four cars, about 10 miles long, will compete in each race, starting the first qualifying heat from the position drawn in the lottery. The Heat Winner will score 3 points (2 points in 2nd place, 1 point in 3rd place, nothing in 4th place) to advance to the next round.
Driver pairing that completes the longest jump on the first obstacle will earn a “Hyper Boost” power upgrade.
Apart from the orbital sight, Extreme E launches “legacy” programs in each country. The reason many star names were drawn to join the team and drive in the championship is because of the environmental work done in each round.
The in-house Rhagades Scientific Committee will lead beach cleaning, mangrove planting, coordinated research and seek to educate locals to reduce carbon emissions.

What is an Extreme E Car?
All teams will run a standardized Odyssey 21 E-SUV, but powertrain technology will be open to development at a later date. The niobium reinforced steel alloy tubular frame was manufactured by Spark Racing Technology, a French company that is continuously responsible for the manufacture of Formula E cars.
Despite the initial contract with McLaren Applied, it was announced that Williams Advanced Engineering will manufacture batteries for Extreme E vehicles. This and the mid-mount motor provide 400kw (equivalent to 550bhp) output and propel a 1650kg machine from 0 to 62mph in 4.5 seconds.
The Odyssey, 4.4 meters long and 2.3 meters wide, is stopped by a 6-piston archon brake. Continental, on the other hand, is the only tire supplier thanks to its thick cross-contact compound.
When a team partner with an automaker, various elements of the car’s design, the front bumper and grille, can be modified to resemble a road car.
The car will be shipped to each event on the RMS St Helena. The former cargo ship was repaired for millions of pounds for 18 months to reduce emissions.

Each takes about 30 minutes and focuses on “behind-the-scenes” elements such as equality, electrification and environmental sustainability. These are presented by Leila Anna Li.
The race will be streamed live on the BBC, with renowned motorsport anchors Jennie Gow and Andrew Corey providing commentary from their London studio.
