Above average: Ride comfort; stylish interior. Smooth appearance; Federal tax credit eligibility; Great rear leg room.

Below average: The range lags behind some competitors. The Sportback loses some headroom and cargo space on the regular e-tron. There is no one-pedal operation option.

consensus: With a sloping roofline, the 2022 Audi e-tron Sportback is a stylish and luxurious EV with excellent ride quality. The range isn’t great, and what it looks like it loses in space to the non-sports back e-tron.

Audi e-tron Sportback vs. Tesla Model Y: Luxury or Range??

Audi e-tron Sportback

With the increasing stability of Audi’s EVs, the 2022 e-tron Sportback is a smoother, sloping roof variation of the e-tron SUV. Its internal organs are the same as the regular model, but its sportier look translates into a little more rear headroom and a little less cargo space than the more square siblings.

The e-tron’s power is supplied via front and rear motors. If there’s one thing Audi knows about, it’s all-wheel drive. Even better, the e-tron has an adjustable air suspension that can be tightened for a bit more sport or a softer, more comfortable and smoother ride. There is an all-road mode for winter driving, and an off-road mode where you can raise the suspension a little to increase clearance when the pavement is over.

Despite its sporty appearance, the 2022 Audi e-tron Sportback doesn’t fly on the road like some EVs, but its 355 horsepower and 414 lb-ft torque (more through boost mode). Many) makes it fast enough for most drivers.

The Sportback’s 218-mile range (4 miles less than a regular e-tron) also loses to some competitors, but it’s certainly fine for everyday driving. The fast charger can bring the battery back to 80% in about 30 minutes.

Full of standard features, there is Audi’s virtual cockpit, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that can be configured to display a variety of information such as 4-zone air conditioning, panoramic sunroofs, LED lights, and maps. Safety features include forward collision warning with automatic emergency braking, rear crossing traffic warning, blind spot monitoring, and lane departure warning.

Amenities such as premium audio system, top view camera system, full leather upholstery and massage front seats. With the tow package, the 2022 e-tron Sportback can tow up to £ 4,000.

Tesla Model Y

The latest member of the all-electric Tesla Fleet, now in its third year, the 2022 Tesla Model Y is the younger brother of the larger Model X crossover. We offer a choice of 5-seater or 7-seater seats and electric drivetrains, depending on how they are configured.

Model Y has two major options, depending on what you need. The standard is long-range, with 447 horsepower, an optional third-row seat for seven-seater, and a 326-mile range. The output of the performance model is 580 horsepower, but the range is still reduced to the impressive 303 miles and there is no third row of options.

With enough power on both trims, the Model Y is fast and dual motors provide instant torque to all four wheels. Performance models also add upgraded brakes and lowered suspension, but both models are fairly comfortable to ride.

Inside, Model Y is minimalist, with vegan simulated leather and wood strips throughout the dashboard for seat decoration. In the center of the dash is a 15-inch tablet-like infotainment screen that controls almost everything. It may be a little difficult to learn, but one disadvantage is that Model Y does not include Apple CarPlay or Android Auto integration. In the two-row model, the maximum cargo capacity is 68 cubic feet with all seats folded.

Standard features include a panoramic glass roof, heated front and rear seats, and automatic temperature control. The central touch screen includes navigation, a 14-speaker audio system, four USB ports, and two wireless charging pads.

Tesla’s semi-autonomous driving assistance system includes adaptive cruise control, automatic emergency braking, automatic steering, and blind spot monitoring, but the driver still needs to be careful and ready to control. All Tesla sales are online and the prices are non-negotiable.

All-wheel drive; Warranty; Spacious rear seats.

Which one is better for me?

Although considerably more expensive than its rivals, the 2022 Audi e-tron Sportback is luxurious, comfortable, spacious and suitable for dirt roads.

At a lower price, the 2022 Tesla Model Y will be charged even more, but the feel isn’t that extravagant. The ride quality is hard and there are quality issues, but the cargo space is good.
