If you don’t have a PlayStation 5 yet, playing Fortnite may be your best chance to actually get a PlayStation 5. Developer Epic Games has announced that it will award PS5 consoles to some consoles that will compete in the next Generations Cup. This solo tournament will begin on December 18th at 3:00 pm PST / 6:00 pm EST and is exclusively for Sony console players and will not be open to players on other platforms.
However, getting a PS5 from Fortnite is still not easy. Although the event is affiliated with PlayStation, only one PS5 will be distributed to the winners in each region. This is equivalent to sending a total of 7 PS5s. Participating regions are divided into Europe, eastern North America, western North America, Brazil, Asia, Oceania, and the Middle East.
Even if you don’t win a PS5, Epic offers comfort prizes. Players ranked high in the Generations Cup will be able to get indigo kuno costumes and indigo kamaback bling. In North America, this means that at least the top 1,500 players will participate if you are using the NA East server. West Coast people must be one of the top 600 players. Qualifications for all regions are listed in the official rules.
For fine print, Epic tells players that they need to enable two-factor authentication on their Epic account and have an account level of 30 to qualify. Epic will email you the highest scoring player in each region within two weeks of the end of the tournament. The player then responds within 45 days or loses a shot when getting the PS5 and no alternative winner is nominated.
