Xbox Cloud Gaming Description: Costs, Requirements, Features, etc.

A few years ago, “Xbox” was only referring to Microsoft’s traditional gaming console with exclusive gaming and a closed ecosystem. However, the company’s view of today’s games is very different, and the Xbox brand also includes PC games and, more recently, cloud games. With Xbox Cloud Gaming, a very convenient way to play Xbox Game Pass titles, anyone with an Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership can bring their games to their device without the need for downloads or updates. You can stream it directly. The program is getting bigger and bigger. Get an overview of what you need to know about Xbox Cloud Gaming and what it will evolve in the future.

What is Xbox Cloud Gaming?

Unlike other game streaming services such as PlayStation Now and Google Stadia, Xbox Cloud Gaming isn’t really a separate paid program from Microsoft. Instead, it’s a feature included in the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate that allows you to access selected games along with console and PC titles that are already accessible for a subscription fee.

Xbox Cloud Gaming works by running the game you’re playing remotely in one of Microsoft’s data centers. This data center leverages Xbox hardware components to deliver performance similar to what you would get with a console. It will be streamed to selected devices such as mobile phones, tablets and PCs. You can also stream your game to the Xbox console in the future. More on that later.

What do I need for Xbox Cloud Gaming?

To use Xbox Cloud Gaming right now, you need to subscribe to the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate instead of the basic Xbox Game Pass tier, which is limited to the console. This is usually $ 15 a month, but discounts are often available.

To use Xbox Cloud Gaming, you also need a Windows PC, Android phone or tablet, or Apple phone or tablet. On Android devices, you can use the Game Pass app to stream games, but only Samsung Galaxy phones can choose to subscribe or DLC within the app. The Windows PC player can use either the Xbox for PC app or a web browser.

On iOS, Apple’s store policy means that it is currently restricted to running Xbox Cloud Gaming through Safari. However, if you go to the Xbox Cloud Gaming playback page and press the share button in your browser to add it to your home screen, it will open and be as easy to use as any other app.
