Xbox Series X Skyrim can run at 60 FPS thanks to the console mod

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim is backward compatible and can be played on Xbox Series X. Also, if you own a Special Edition version released on Xbox One, you can now play at higher frame rates on the new console. You need to download the mod. This usually disables Achievements, but there are workarounds as well.

On the Xbox Series X Reddit, user annathetravelbanana shared a console mod to increase the frame rate. This is called Uncap FPS and when turned on it boosts the game to 60fps. This makes the Skyrim experience on the console smoother than ever.

As pointed out in the post comments, there are also workarounds to run such mods and still get Achievements. After enabling mods, you need to restart the game, open the mod menu, disable mods and restart. The mod is still active and the Achievements are displayed again.

Other users have reported that various graphics mods that don’t work well on the Xbox One now work well on the Series X. However, using these mods will still disable Achievements, so make sure you have everything you need before using them.

It’s not yet clear if this will work in Series S, or if there’s an equivalent PS4 mod that upgrades the game on PS5, but if you want to access Skyrim again in the next generation, some console mods are probably earlier. Will work better than.

Microsoft recently began the process of purchasing Bethesda prior to the launch of the Xbox Series X, with the transaction expected to close in early 2021. This means that the next Elder Scrolls game will be available on the Xbox Game Pass.
