Xiong Jing Nan holds the title by decision – MMA Sports

Xiong Jing Nan closed all women’s cards by defending her title with ONE: Empower.

Xiong defeated Michelle Nicolini with a decision at the main event from Singapore. The Atom Weight World Grand Prix was also held at this event.

Xiong peppered Nicolini with a beautiful boxing combination, held a contest and surprised Brazilians many times with his right hand. Nicolini did her best to fight, but couldn’t close the gap. Chinese superstars continued her onslaught in the championship round, as Nicolini simply didn’t answer Zion’s impeccable blow. As she won her fifth successful ONE Women’s Strawweight World Title defense, all three judges recorded the match in favor of Xiong to win the unanimous decision.

At the Grand Prix, Itsuki Hirata, Ritu Phogat, Stamp Fairtex and Seo Hee Ham all advanced to the semi-finals.

Ham won the split decision in an absolute war with 1st place Dennis Zamboanga and punched a ticket to the ONE Women’s Atomweight World Grand Prix semifinal. Zamboanga went into the clinch trying to bring the action to the ground and tried to get closer quickly. Ham attacked with a jab and threw his left hand in the middle to try to keep the Filipinos within range. In the third round, Zamboanga exploded with a powerful takedown, but Ham quickly recovered to end the fight.

In the long-awaited rematch, # 4 rank Atomweight Fairtex won the split decision in a close round-trip battle with # 3 rank Alyona Rassohyna. Rassohyna made a strong start at his feet and brought the battle to Stamp. Thai athletes responded by fixing the Ukrainian back to the ground and threatening him with a rear-naked choke. In the third round, Lasso Hina caught the stamp with an arm bar, but the latter escaped and used her ground and pounds to do serious damage. In the end, Stamp won the split-decision victory on the scorecard and proceeded to the semi-finals of the tournament.

Indian wrestling star Phogat survived the first onslaught from second-placed Atomwait Meng Bo and made a unanimous decision to advance to the Grand Prix semi-finals. Men shook the foghat with his right hand in the opening frame and threatened with an arm bar, but “Indian Tigres” showed an incredible heart to reach the bell and revived in the last two rounds. Taking advantage of her excellent wrestling skills, Foghat blasted Men from top to bottom with knees and elbows and dominated the rest of the way.

Hirata won the fearless Alize Anderson overall and advanced to the Grand Prix semi-finals. Behind a strong judo base, Hirata consistently easily took Anderson to the mat and slammed his elbows, fists, and knees against the Americans from above. Anderson dropped Hirata with overhand rights in the third round, but Japanese fighters recovered and soon returned to work to get a unanimous decision.
